Dr Scott Hendry, Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
Dr Scott Hendry has been a Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow since 2005. He enjoyed a broad based training in Paediatrics and PEM across the UK and Australia, working in children’s hospitals in Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Sydney and Melbourne.
The Emergency Department in the children’s hospital in Glasgow is one of the busiest in the UK, seeing almost 80,000 patients/year. Scott was Clinical Lead for the department during a period of significant expansion and change which included the design, build and move to a new children’s hospital and the centralisation of paediatric emergency care for children and young people across Glasgow.
Scott is currently Chair of the UK Intercollegiate Committee for Standards for Children and Young People in Emergency Care Settings. This multidisciplinary group has just published the 5th revision of a set of nationally agreed standards for paediatric emergency care. He is also Specialty Advisor to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Scotland for PEM, providing guidance to the CMO and Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorate.
