Calling for Clean Air: the power of paediatric advocacy in low and middle income countries
About this workshop
Air pollution is one of the largest environmental threats to child health, with 88% of pollution related premature deaths occurring in low and middle income countries. As evidence grows linking poor air quality to adverse maternal, neonatal and long term developmental outcomes, the voices of paediatricians remain an underused force for change.
This session explores how paediatric associations in Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, and the UK are developing powerful advocacy strategies rooted in clinical realities and local context. Through emerging insights from a new RCPCH Global programme, and reflections from partners, we will examine the challenges, opportunities and policy levers available to paediatricians seeking to influence action on air quality.
Participants are invited to consider how paediatric voices can shape cleaner, healthier futures for children—locally and globally.
