An introduction to the Makaton communication system, focusing on signs and symbols relevant to healthcare settings. Makaton signs are widely used by children and young people in the UK, particularly in the Learning Disabilities (LD) community. Children with LD can have an increased healthcare need with a unique experience of healthcare.
