Harry's Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust
Harry’s Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust is a national, user-led charity working to improve outcomes for children with hydrocephalus through awareness, education, family support and system-level change.
Hydrocephalus is a life-threatening neurological condition affecting around 1 in every 770 babies born in the UK each year. Despite its prevalence, awareness of early signs remains low and families frequently experience delayed diagnosis, fragmented care and inconsistent information.
Founded and led by parents with lived experience, the charity works in close partnership with clinicians, professional bodies and families to improve understanding and care across the pathway. Our work includes delivering training and education for health professionals, developing evidence-based resources for clinical and family use and supporting families to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.
A key focus of our work is campaigning for earlier diagnosis and clearer, more consistent pathways of care, informed by both clinical expertise and family experience. Through national campaigns and collaborative projects, we aim to support professionals to recognise hydrocephalus earlier and ensure families receive timely, informed and compassionate care.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to co-production and to ensuring that the voices of children and families help shape better care, now and in the future.
