Societi, the UK Foundation for Kawasaki Disease
Societi is the UK Foundation for Kawasaki Disease, the leading cause of acquired heart disease in UK children. Kawasaki Disease is increasingly common with around 1,500 hospital admissions expected this year. Prompt diagnosis and treatment of Kawasaki Disease will reduce the risk of lifelong serious heart in children. Currently, 28% of all treated children will suffer some form of heart damage and 39% of babies under one year old will suffer coronary artery aneurysms – this is far too high – we NEED you to KNOW Kawasaki Disease!
Societi Foundation aims to raise awareness of Kawasaki Disease with both clinicians and with the public, as this is the most effective way we have to reduce the rate of heart damage from Kawasaki Disease in the UK. We provide educational and learning resources for clinicians, we enable research, and we support affected families.
