Should paediatric care extend to all children and young people at least until their 18th birthday?
What really defines the end of childhood—and should paediatric care stop there? During this panel discussion, we explore whether children and young people aged 16–17 are falling through the cracks of our healthcare system, and what responsibility paediatrics should hold in closing those gaps.
This session is designed to spark fresh thinking rather than deliver neat answers. We’ll begin with insight from members of the NHS England CYP Youth Forum, who first raised concerns about inconsistent care for 16–17-year-olds and will help set the scene.
Expect a meaningful look at how our services support young people at a pivotal stage of life, this session promises a stimulating, good‑natured exploration of an issue with real implications for paediatric practice and for the young people we serve.
